"Dnerp (soft focus)", is part of a series of paintings devoted to a building influenced by a circus arena situated in the city of Dnipropetrovsk, also called Dnepr, by local inhabitants. Dnepr is located on the Dnieper River in East-Central Ukraine. Dnipropetrovsk has been the major center of the steel industry from the beginning of the 20th century until the present. It has also dominated in the machine-building and aero-spacebuilding industry since the 1950s. Through researching about the city of Dpner and the circus arena, I felt inspired to create my own interpretation of the building- a spaceship influence, and making it part of a new frontier.

"Dnepr (soft focus)" was originally taken from the first Dnepr painting I did in 2008. In 2010, I was in the works of publishing a book to accompany my Tomorrowland series and for future exhibit and book release, and so I decided to paint another similar piece to feature on this book's cover. This time, I softened the building a bit and changed to monochromatic green-grey and soft white tones, which in turn this piece would be perfect for the book's cover. Once one opens the book, all of my works featured are in bright colors. The original painting sold thereafter, and since I continue to receive lots of great feedback for this piece, I'm offering limited reproductions printed on paper.
