"Rooftop View" (original painting, oil on panel, 19” x 24”) was inspired by a photograph taken by San Francisco photographer, Mark Ellinger, and with whom I had the great honor to have exhibited in 2008 during our two person show, "Heart of the City".
Ellinger and I shared a tribute to the beauty and splendor of decaying and abandoned architecture and iconic city landmarks that distinguish the Tenderloin, Mid-Market Street and Sixth Street/SoMa. Ellinger gave me permission to paint this image in 2010, which he originally captured the rooftop view from atop a hotel on 6th Street. The scene showcases the distinct warehouses of the neighborhood and a mutual favorite site- the PG&E Thermal plants of 6th & Jessie, which I’ve incorporated in many of my paintings and with the sky in bright emerald green tones.

This painting was first exhibited at STUDIO Gallery, during "City Streets" Annual Group Show, in San Francisco, July 11th - August 5th, 2012, and was later exhibited during Araujo's solo show, ON THE EDGE OF DELICATE LINES, from July to September 7th, 2013 at Alphaville Gallery, in San Francisco.

"Rooftop View" was also exhibited at the Old Mint, for "Mid-Market Landmarks" solo show and during SF History Expo at the Old Mint, January-March 2015. This painting is also featured in Araujo's 2012 book publication entitled, SOMA RISING. This painting sold during the Art Auction at Hospitality House at the Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco this June, 2016.
